What to expect?
Unlike most other farm experiences and animal walking experiences, ours is authentic (a working farm!) and our ethos is individual-care; we limit group bookings to 8 (or 2 families) and bespoke events to 6. (‘Special events are an exception to this rule!)
We have 7 goats here. 3 adult Pygmy goats: Bingo, Indy and Jim. They had babies this year: a little girl called Friday as she was born on Good Friday and a little boy called Cooper. We also have 2 large white Saanen goats called Esther and Carrie. The Pygmy goats all absolutely love a cuddle and a walk. The Saanens prefer to be just fed!
A typical full walking experience is as follows, however this can be adapted for ‘Bespoke tours’:
1. Meet the goats. We introduce you to the goats and suggest a partner for you or let you choose. You can give them a small amount of feed, give them a brush and put their lead ropes on.
2. Take the goats for a walk around our farm. Perhaps we can take them to the stream, their playground, around the poultry pens, or to see the view of llantrisant.
3. We allow the goats to enjoy eating weeds and leaves as we go and stop for plenty of cuddles or chats with the goats.
Farmer-Rhi can stay close for assistance and information or she’s happy to take a step back and walk at a distance. Goats can be very useful in confidence-building and opening up communication pathways.
We can learn about the leaves and herbs that the goats enjoy as we walk and collect some to feed to the goats when they return to their stable.
4. Upon returning to the stable, we make the goats a little bowl of food each and mix in our leaves and herbs and enjoy watching them eating it up!
Bespoke events
Once you place a bespoke booking, you will receive an email setting out a suggested itinerary and route for your walk. You are invited to make selections and choices. It may include an extended animal grooming session, some goat agility, or a foraging for animal food session – it’s up to you! You may wish to take it easy or get lots done!
Bookings are for up to 6 people and cost £180 for 2 hours or £150 for 1.5 hours.
Group bookings
These last for 2 hours and cost £25 per person for a maximum of 8 (very occasionally 9) people.
Please contact me directly for families with more than 2 children.
